Wittenberg Falls In Overtime To DePauw

GREENCASTLE, Ind. - The Wittenberg Tigers opened a new era on Saturday with a 1-0 overtime loss at DePauw. In the Tigers' first game under first-year head coach Diana Kuser, offense was at a premium but sophomore goaltender Nicole Irvin stepped up beautifully.

Irvin finished with 12 saves as the DePauw Tigers outshot the Wittenberg Tigers by a decisive 19-6 margin for the game. Three of the shots were taken by sophomore Caroline Mason, who came off the bench. However, DePauw was up to the challenge and found the back of the cage with the game-winner less than three minutes into the overtime session.

Wittenberg has a week off to make the necessary adjustments in preparation for the opening of North Coast Athletic Conference schedule. Kenyon, Kuser's former team, visits Springfield on Saturday, Sept. 10, as the Tigers get their first opportunity to host a game on the new turf in Edwards-Maurer Field.
