SPRINGFIELD, Ohio — After beating five opponents with losing records to open the 2009 season, the Wittenberg Tigers kicked off a challenging second half of the season with a 10-7 win at then-No. 10 ranked Wabash on Oct. 17. The win moved the Tigers to 6-0 overall and 4-0 in the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) and vaulted Wittenberg into both national top 25 rankings. Read More ... |

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Wittenberg earned a 10-7 victory over Wabash behind the efforts of its top-ranked defense, which was sparked by sophomore linebacker Zach Hurtt’s (Fort Thomas, KY/Highlands) 12 tackles, including eight solo stops and three tackles for a loss of 10 yards. Conditioned to do pushups matching the number of Wittenberg points on the scoreboard following each scoring play, the Tiger cheerleaders got themselves an extraordinary workout by doing 385 pushups each in about two hours as the fans counted along with the ringing of the Victory Bell. Tigers have allowed just six points and 216 yards of total offense through two games in 2009, including a shutout and just 99 yards by the Bears.
