The Tigers posted an outstanding two-day score of 597, thanks in large part to a Day 2 score of 295. Wittenberg finished in a tie with Rochester, one stroke behind Allegheny's B Team and 11 behind Ohio Wesleyan and Allegheny, the top two teams in the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) each of the last eight years. NCAA Division II Indiana (Pa.) won the tournament with a 575.
The Tigers were led for a third straight competition by freshman Ricky Boerner (Hilliard, Ohio/Watterson) with a 144, good for fifth place. Freshman Ben Smith (North Bend, Ohio/Elder) added a 149 for 21st, followed by senior Garrett Smith (Powell, Ohio/Worthington Christian) with a 151 for 28th, freshman Jordan Millice (Cable, Ohio/Triad) with a 153 for 36th and sophomore Duncan Littlefield (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) with a 156 for 53rd.
The event was a good tune-up for the Tigers, who next head for Oberlin next weekend for the second of five NCAC competitions during the 2008-09 school year. Wittenberg was third amongst NCAC teams in the first event in the championship series at Denison two weeks ago.
