The Wittenberg University golf program is one that prides itself on a strong tradition and is eager to welcome in a new era on the green. The Tigers welcome new head coach Brett Steele to the helm as well as a strong underclass group to lead them in the conference race.
Heading the list of returners are several successful athletes in sophomores Kurt Bitter(Dublin, Ohio Scioto), Reid Crawford(Barrington, Ill./Barrington) and Ryan Greer (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin) . Bitter was the top finisher last season for the Tigers and hopes to continue to improbe on last year's performance
The Tigers' roster rounds out with a host of new faces in a large freshman class. Look for top performances by Pat Reist (Hamilton, Ohio/Hamilton), Steve Spittle (Dublin, Ohio/Coffman) and Jonathan Orr (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingdon). Also expect to see key performances from David Meyer (Mansfield, Ohio/Lexington) and John Markman (Wakeman, Ohio/Vermillion) and Jesse Fyffe (Chillicothe, Ohio/Chillicothe).
The Tiger program has regularly made appearances at the NCAA Division III chamipionships and this season hopes to be no different. The Tigers face a tough schedule with strong competition at the Denison Invitational, Capital Invitational as well as the conference tournament. Wittenberg opens its spring schedule at the Muskingum Invitational on March 30, 2000.
