Wittenberg vs Allentown, April 25, 1998



Wittenberg traveled to St.Vincent's in Latrobe, Pa. to play in a tournament and opened with Allentown. Wittenberg came out firing in the first quarter. Jeff Collins scored unassisted. Mario Cassani and Jeff Collins scored assisted from Collins and Billy Habermeyer. Eric Clapp added another goal. The score at the end of the first quarter was 4-1 Wittenberg.

The second quarter saw the momentum swing towards Allentown. They controlled the quarter by scoring two goals. The Tiger offense took good shots but couldn't convert. Wittenberg still had a 4-3 lead at the half.

Wittenberg took control of the third quarter and scored four goals to Allentown's one. Mark Burrell scored unassisted. Billy Habermeyer, David Roth and Collins scored, assisted by Collins, Habermeyer and Cassani. Witt increased its lead at the end of the third quarter 8-4.

The Tigers kept up their intensity in the fourth quarter and scored two more goals. Roth and Clapp scored unassisted while Wittenberg's defense shutout Allentown. The final score was Wittenberg 10-4.

Starting goalie Michael Oliver had 13 saves with Charlie Hamilton finishing the game with one save. Oliver led the Tigers in groundballs with six. Dan Hillerich and Jon Sonntag followed with five groundballs each.
