Wittenberg Wins First Game Of 2005 Season
At Home Against Oberlin
March 23, 2005

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - The Wittenberg Tigers took a step forward on Wednesday, knocking off visiting Oberlin 13-9 in a nonconference game at Edwards-Maurer Field. It was Wittenberg's first win of the 2005 season after four losses to open the season.

On a cold, raw day, the Tigers came out strong, scoring the first four goals of the game before Oberlin closed to within 5-3 by halftime. Senior Trevor Carlson got the Tigers off on the right foot with a goal less than three minutes into the game to start the scoring barrage.

Sophomore Travis Moore had Wittenberg's lone second quarter goal. Oberlin tied the game with four goals to Wittenberg's two in the third quarter, sending the two teams into the final 15 minute frame tied at seven. That's when the Tigers turned it on, outscoring the visiting Yeomen 6-2 down the stretch.

Moore finished with a game-high four goals in the game and Coursault added a career-best three tallies, including the game-winner early in the fourth quarter. Hong added two goals, while freshman Mike Delestienne, sophomore Adam Morrison, Carlson and sophomore Jay Shimko rounded out the Tigers' scoring. Carlson, Hong, Coursault, junior Mike Morrell, freshman Jon Van Vranken and junior Cory Windle had one assist each and Morrison finished with a team-best two helpers.

Junior Kevin Adams had a solid game in goal for Wittenberg with seven saves.
