Wittenberg Races Past Fontbonne, 20-3

The win moved the Tigers to 4-3 record overall, heading into a week off before they face North Coast Athletic Conference rival Kenyon on Saturday, April 7.
The Tigers started strong and never let up as they outshot the Griffins 54-24, won the battle of ground balls 21-14 and led at halftime 11-2. Top scorers for the Tigers included freshman Jeff Capella (Columbus, Ohio/Worthington Kilbourne) with four goals, freshman Ted Winders (Western Springs, Illinois/Lyons Township) with three, junior Jon Van Vranken (North Canton, Ohio/Hoover) adding in three and freshman Tim Gates (North Canton, Ohio/Hoover) contributing two.
High man in assists was freshman Mike Derrenberger (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer) with three. Defensively senior Mark Morrell (St. Louis, MO. /C.B.C) led the Tigers in groundballs with nine and also won 19 of 27 face-offs. In goal the Tigers picked up a combined 11 saves for junior Andy Shively (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington) and freshman Ben Van Vranken (North Canton, Ohio/Hoover).
