Garlock's 19 saves keyed a 5-5 stalemate through the end of the third quarter. In the fourth quarter, Kenyon's Luke Larson put the wraps on a fantastic day, scoring four of his game-high seven goals. The Lords scored four of their five fourth-quarter goals in a game-changing span of five minutes.
The disappointing finish overshadowed some strong individual performances for the Tigers, including 10 ground balls picked up by senior Brandon Schwind (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington), a 14-of-19 performance on face-offs by senior Mark Morrell (St. Louis, Mo./CBC) and Garlock's 19 saves in net.
Offensively, the Tigers had three players contribute a goal and an assist, part of a balanced attack. Freshman Ted Winders (Western Springs, Ill./Lyons Township), freshman Jeff Capella (Columbus, Ohio/Worthington Kilbourne) and junior Brandon Hulett (Hilliard, Ohio/Davidson) each scored and assisted for two total points.
Kenyon outshot the Tigers 39-26, while the two teams split 68 ground balls right down the middle.
