Kenyon at Wittenberg, April 15, 1998



Wittenberg was looking to avenge its earlier loss to Kenyon at today's home game but it was not be. Kenyon continued to dominate Wittenberg on both offense and defense, winning the game 13-7. Wittenberg couldn't get started and the defense spotted Kenyon four goals before the offense got on the board. The only Tiger goal scored in the first quarter was by defensmen Dan Hillerich who scored unassisted on a fastbreak opportunity.

Wittenberg was unable to rebound from its slow start during the second quarter as Kenyon scored four more goals. The Tigers answered with two goals by Jeff Collins who scored on an assisted from Eric Clapp and second was scored by Billy Habermeyer, assisted by Mark Burrell. Kenyon had a commanding 8-3 lead at the half.

The Tigers began the third quarter with hopes of holding Kenyon on defense and allowing the offense to close the gap but were unable to do so as the Lords scored three more goals. Wittenberg responded with two goals by Burrell (unassisted) and Collins, assisted by Burrell. The score at the end of the third period saw Kenyon still leading 11-5.

The Tigers played better in the fourth quarter but couldn't cut into Kenyon's lead. The Lords scored two more goals and Wittenberg answered with two of its own. Burrell scored assisted by Mario Cassani. Hillerich scored the second goal unassisted on another fastbreak opportunity.

Goalie Michael Oliver had 21 saves and led the Tigers in groundballs with six. Jonathan Sonntag and Mark Burrell each had five.
