Tiger Men's Lacrosse Game Report--Villa Julie - March 2, 1998
The Tigers opened the 1998 season on the spring break trip to
Baltimore and Virginia. The weather was wet and the field was sloppy.
Villa Julie won the game 15-12. The Tigers started off slow. Villa Julie
scored first, Wittenberg answered back with a goal from David Roth. The
score at the end of the first quarter was 2-1 Villa Julie. The second
quarter was tough and Wittenberg couldn't convert on transition. The
Tigers made several mistakes and Villa Julie capitalized and scored four
goals. Wittenberg answered back with two more goals from David Roth and
Billy Habemeyer. The score at the half was 6-3 Villa Julie.
The Tigers came out ready to play in the third quarter, outscoring
Villa Julie 6-2. Wittenberg took the lead at the end of the third quarter
9-8. Wittenberg added another goal in the beginning of the fourth to make
the score 10-8. Villa Julie didn't fold as they scored two goals to tie
the game at 10 all with 10 minutes left in the fourth. Wittenberg had
trouble picking up ground balls and Villa Julie capitalized and scored two
more goals to take the lead. This proved to be too much for Wittenberg's
offense. The Tiger offense and defense played well six-on-six. The
difference in the game was converting and stopping transition.

Mike Oliver had a strong game with 17 saves. Jeff Collins and Dan
Hillerich led the team in ground balls with four each. John Bodin played a
strong game on close defense.
