The Tigers dropped to 3-4-1 on the season. The Colonels remained unbeaten at 4-0-1 overall.
After an extremely competitive opening 15 minutes, Centre struck first. The Colonels added another before halftime to take a 2-0 lead into the intermission. In the second half, the Tigers appeared to be back into the game when sophomore Justin Jenkins (Dublin, Ohio/Coffman) converted a penalty kick after classmate Shane Price (Minford, Ohio/Minford) was taken down in the penalty box on a breakaway. But Centre responded with a penalty kick of its own, thanks to a controversial call on Tiger goalkeeper Ben McAnnis-Entenman (Portland, Ore./Cleveland). The Colonels then controlled play through most of the final minutes, adding a fourth goal.
McAnnis-Entenman made just three saves, the same number he was credited with in the entire 120 minutes of the game against Calvin a night earlier. Centre held a 17-8 advantage in total shots.
Wittenberg gets back in action Tuesday with another challenging game, this time at home against NAIA scholarship foe Cedarville. Kick-off is slated for 8 p.m.
