The game was neck and neck until midway through the second half when Ohio Wesleyan forward lodged his first goal of the game into the back of the net, off a deflected header by a teammate. Once the Bishops gained the lead there was no turning back. A little more than two minutes later, an Ohio Wesleyan midfielder headed the ball into the back of the net off a cross from his teammate.
The Tigers, who trailed in total shots 11-9 for the game overall, picked up five saves from junior goalkeeper Ben McAnnis-Entenman (Portland, Ore./Cleveland), matching Ohio Wesleyan's game total. Wittenberg fell to 5-7-2 overall and 1-3-1 in the NCAC, while the Bishops remained on top in the conference with records of 10-0-2 overall and 4-0-1 in the NCAC. In order to have any chance at postseason play the Tigers must win the remaining games on their schedule, starting with Wabash at home at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17.
