Cedarville Uses Late-Game Heroics To Down Tigers

The Tiger men got down to a 1-0 deficit early, allowing Cedarville to score in the third minute. The shot was one of the Yellow Jackets' 19, including nine on goal. Cedarville gave the Tigers a chance to even the score in the 16th minute by committing a foul within the penalty box and sending senior forward Brian Glenn (Lewis Center, Ohio/Olentangy) to the line for a penalty shot.
Glenn snuck the penalty kick past the Yellow Jacket goalkeeper to tie the game, but both offensives went stagnant for the remainder of the first period. In the second period, Cedarville again used the early minutes to strike, putting a goal past sophomore goalkeeper David Rea (Rocky River, Ohio/Rocky River) just five minutes into the second half. Rea finished with six saves and three goals allowed over 90 minutes in goal.
Nearly 20 minutes later, Wittenberg erased the deficit on another Glenn goal, bringing his total to two on the night as the Tigers' only goal scorer. The two teams fought for another seven minutes until Cedarville struck for the game-winner on a double-assisted goal in the 77th minute.
The Tigers return to action and resume their NCAC schedule on Saturday, Oct. 3, with a 7:30 p.m. match at home against the College of Wooster.
