Tigers Tough In Loss To Kenyon

Alejandro Garcia

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - The Wittenberg men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision Saturday night to the 23rd-ranked Kenyon Lords. Wittenberg drops to 3-9-2 overall but an even 2-2-1 in the North Coast Athletic Conference.

Wittenberg was held shotless by the visiting Lords, but in turn held the potent Kenyon offense to just seven shots, despite the Lords' season average of 18 per game. The Tiger defense and midfield played the biggest role in keeping Kenyon in check, led on this occasion by freshman Alejandro Garcia (Toledo, Ohio/St. Francis). Kenyon only once found a way past Garcia, the Tiger defense, and sophomore goalkeeper Michael Lambeck (Dublin, Ohio/Coffman), who made four saves.

Kenyon committed 14 fouls throughout the game, compared to just five on Wittenberg. Kenyon kicked from the corner three times, Wittenberg just twice.

The Tigers next host Earlham on Wednesday, Oct. 21, for a 7 p.m. match.
