Oberlin Edges Past Wittenberg In Heated Affair
|

Christian Stringer

Oberlin held an advantage in nearly every statistical category, including shots (20-9), corner kicks (10-4) and fouls (Wittenberg 10, Oberlin 7). Wittenberg sophomore goalkeeper Michael Lambeck (Dublin, Ohio/Coffman) stopped three shots to match Oberlin's netminder.
The Tiger offense, while held scoreless, did have several opportunities. Of nine shots, three were on goal, one each from sophomore midfielder Christian Stringer (Delaware, Ohio/Hayes), sophomore forward Stefan Latham (Springfield, Ohio/Catholic Central) and senior defender Michael Condon (Powell, Ohio/Watterson).
The Tigers claimed four of the five penalty cards, all coming in the second period, after Oberlin scored the lone goal of the game with just minutes left in the first period. In total, the referee handed out four yellow cards and a red card.
Wittenberg next travels to Wabash on Wednesday, Oct. 14, for a 4 p.m. contest before returning to Springfield for a three-game homestand.
