SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - The College of Wooster Fighting Scots handed Wittenberg University' men's soccer team a golden opportunity in the 28th minute on Saturday, leading to a 1-0 victory that propelled the Tigers to a 2-7-2 overall record and a 1-0-1 mark in the North Coast Athletic Conference.

Tiger senior forward Brian Glenn (Lewis Center, Ohio/Olentangy) put a penalty kick into Wooster's net to give Wittenberg the final advantage and earn his fifth goal of the season, but it was the hard work of many other Tigers that made the goal stand up. Specifically, sophomore goalkeeper Michael Lambeck (Dublin, Ohio/Coffman) saved five Wooster shots, including a late-game, front-and-center direct free kick from just outside the 18-box.

Lambeck's five saves came amid 19 total shots from the Scots, while Wittenberg, despite controlling the ball throughout much of the second period, attempted only 14. Glenn led the charge with four shots, including two on goal. Junior midfielder Nate Ayres (Hilliard, Ohio/Davidson), sophomore forward Stefan Latham (Springfield, Ohio/Catholic Central) and freshman midfielder Marshall Rowland (Pewee Valley, Ky./South Oldham) all shot twice, Latham and Rowland on goal both times. Four more Tigers also shot the ball once in the match.

The Tigers totaled 10 shots on goal, compared to five for Wooster, and held a 5-4 advantage in corner kicks while getting whistled for four more fouls than the Scots.

The Red & White rest for a week before heading to Oberlin on Saturday, Oct. 10, for a 7:30 p.m. match to continue NCAC action.
