Wittenberg Splits Dual Meet With Wooster

Adeline Brym
WOOSTER, Ohio - The Wittenberg men's and women's swimming and diving teams had quite an interesting afternoon at North Coast Athletic Conference rival Wooster.

A meet that started out well enough was interrupted in the middle of the women's 1,000-yard freestyle competition by a campus-wide power outage, which forced the two teams to move their meet to nearby Wooster High School. When waters had finally calmed, the Tiger women had claimed a resounding 138-105 victory over the perennial national power Scots, while the Tiger men dropped a deceiving 148-95 decision.

It was the Tigers' dual meet opener, and it will be a meet for these youthful squads to remember. Wittenberg jumps back into the competitive waters next weekend when Wilmington comes calling on Friday and then the team takes a road trip to another national contender, DePauw, on Saturday.

Electronic results are not yet available, but they will be posted as soon as possible. Individual winners for the Tiger women were freshman Adeline Brym (Mansfield, Ohio/Lexington) in the 200 and 500 freestyle events, freshman Kristin Elber (Brunswick, Ohio/Brunswick) in the 100 free, freshman Katie Johnson (Springfield, Ohio/North) in the 200 breaststroke, freshman Amy Prugh (Indianapolis, Ind/North Central) in the 200 butterfly, junior Kaitlin Clark (Wakeman, Ohio/Firelands) in the 1,000 free and freshman Lauren Stets (Westerville, Ohio/North) in the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events. In addition, the Tigers led the field in the 200 free relay with the quartet of Elber, freshman Janna House (St. Thomas, Ontario/Central Elgin Collegiate Institute), freshman Emily Roesch (Oakland, Mich./Lake Orion) and junior Lindsay Smith (Mount Vernon, Ohio/Mount Vernon).

On the men' side, senior Cody Nicely (Knoxville, Tenn./Bearden) was the winner in both diving events and freshman Neil Anderson (Lakewood, Ohio/Lakewood) hit the wall first in the 500 free.
