At the conclusion of the 2005 North Coast Athletic Conference Swimming and Diving Championships the Wittenberg Tigers stood tall in a crowded field filled with the finest competition in all of NCAA Division III. The Tiger men wound up in sixth place, a heartbreaking 30 points out of fourth place, the reasonable team goal prior to the competition. The Tiger women finished a solid fourth, behind only Kenyon, Denison and Wooster, three of the top five teams in the nation in 2004-05, a fact that will likely be born out in next month's NCAA Division III Championship meet. Saturday was highlighted by the first NCAA A Cut of junior Becca Searcy (Shelbyville, Ky./Shelby County) already illustrious collegiate career. She took third place in the 1650 freestyle, a hard-earned and well-deserved All-NCAC nod the reward after a pair of fourth place finishes the previous two nights in the 500 freestyle and 400 Individual Medley.

For the men, the best finish was turned in by freshman Ryan Schramm (Cincinnati, Ohio/Roger Bacon), who posted his best mark yet with fifth place in the 1650 freestyle.
