ERIE, Pa. - The Wittenberg Tigers opened the second half of the 2007-08 season with a tough loss to North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) rival Allegheny, 9-0.

The loss dropped the Tigers to 1-2 overall and 1-1 in the conference, while the Gators improved to 6-1 overall and 1-0 in the NCAC.

Wittenberg was unable to pull out a set in the overall competition. At No. 4 singles, sophomore Craig Lods (Chillicothe, Ohio/Chillicothe) stretched the first set to a tiebreaker, but he lost 8-6.

The Tigers return to action Sunday at Oberlin.
