May 2, 2000--
(15-5, 3-0 NCAC)-- The Tigers wrapup the 2000 season this week when they face off against conference rival Denison on Tuesday and then head for the NCAC Tournament on Friday and Saturday in Granville. The Tigers and the Big Red are tied for first in the West division and Tuesday's match-up will determine the standings for Friday's tournament.

Several Tigers are making their mark in conference rankings this season. Junior Bryan Heft (Gahanna, Ohio/Lincoln) is third at the first singles position with a 14-4 record and freshman Casey Clagett (Steamboat Springs, Col./Steamboat Springs) is third with an 8-4 mark at second singles. Meanwhile freshman Eric Cusick (Lima, Ohio/Lima Senior) is first at the third singles spot with a 11-1 mark. Junior Spencer Sakai (Cincinnati, Ohio/Withrow) is second at the fifth singles position with an 9-3 record and freshman Mike Herzog (Springfield, Ohio/Northwestern) is first at sixth singles with a 12-1 mark.

In the doubles rankings, Heft and Cusick are first at second doubles as well Sakai and Herzog at third doubles.


April 25, 2000--
(15-4, 3-0 NCAC)-- The Tigers continue on their successful ways in 2000 as they posted victories in two matches last week. Wittenberg defeated Case Reserve 4-3 and then shut out conference rival Wabash 7-0 to remain undefeated in the NCAC. The Tigers are having their best year since the 1993 season when they finished 13-5 overall and 5-3 in the conference.

Several Tigers are making their mark in conference rankings this season. Junior Bryan Heft (Gahanna, Ohio/Lincoln) is third at the first singles position with a 13-4 record and freshman Eric Cusick (Lima, Ohio/Lima Senior) is third at the third singles spot with a 10-1 mark. Junior Spencer Sakai (Cincinnati, Ohio/Withrow) is second at the fifth singles position with an 9-2 record and freshman Mike Herzog (Springfield, Ohio/Northwestern) is first at sixth singles with a perfect 12-0 mark.

In the doubles rankings, Heft and Cusick are first at second doubles as well Sakai and Herzog at third doubles.

Wittenberg faces Kenyon in action this week before visiting Denison next week to round out the regular season schedule.


April 18, 2000--
(13-4, 2-0 NCAC)-- The Tigers continued to see success last week as they shut out three of four opponents. Wittenberg opened the week with its first conference victory of the season with a 6-1 finish over Ohio Wesleyan. The Tigers then went on to post 7-0 victories over Bluffton, Earlham and Oberlin to wrap up the week.

Junior Bryan Heft (Gahanna, Ohio/Lincoln) is third at the first singles position with a 11-4 record and freshman Eric Cusick (Lima, Ohio/Lima Senior) is third at the third singles spot with a 8-1 mark. At fourth singles, junior Mark Swart (Holland, Mich./Holland) is ranked fourth with a 6-3 record. Junior Spencer Sakai (Cincinnati, Ohio/Withrow) is third at the fifth singles position with an 8-1 record and freshman Mike Herzog (Springfield, Ohio/Northwestern) is first at sixth singles with a perfect 10-0 mark. Heft has also made a mark at the first singles spot with a 7-4 record to rank second in the NCAC. In the doubles rankings, Heft and Cusick are first at second doubles as well Sakai and Herzog at third doubles.

This week the Tigers face first-year conference opponent Wabash on Saturday as well as former conference opponent Case Reserve.


April 11, 2000--
(9-4, 0-0 NCAC)-- Wittenberg continued to success in winning ways last week when it defeated nearby Cedarville 7-0 early in the week and then slid by Allegheny 4-3.

Junior Bryan Heft (Gahanna, Ohio/Lincoln) and freshman Eric Cusick (Lima, Ohio/Lima Senior) have made an impression at the second doubles position with a team-best 9-1 overall mark to rank them first in the NCAC. Freshman Mike Herzog (Springfield, Ohio/Northwestern) is first at sixth singles with a perfect 7-0 mark. Heft has also made a mark at the first singles spot with a 7-4 record to rank second in the NCAC.

The Tigers host their first conference match-up when Ohio Wesleyan visits on Wednesday. They face non-conference opponent Bluffton on Thursday and then host Earlham and Oberlin in Saturday action.


April 4, 2000--
(7-4, 0-0 NCAC)-- The Tigers continued on their winning ways in last week's competition with 5-2 victories over Ohio Northern and Wooster.

Junior Bryan Heft (Gahanna, Ohio/Lincoln) and freshman Eric Cusick (Lima, Ohio/Lima Senior) have made an impression at the second doubles position with a team-best 7-1 overall mark to rank them first in the NCAC. Freshman Mike Herzog (Springfield, Ohio/Northwestern) is first at sixth singles with a perfect 5-0 mark.

Wittenberg travels to nearby Cedarville for action on Tuesday and then hosts Allegheny and Transylvania in match-ups on Saturday.


March 27, 2000--
(5-4, 0-0 NCAC)-- The Tigers returned from their spring trip with a 4-2 record in five days ready to tackle the full spring schedule ahead. Wittenberg hosted Hiram in its home opener last Saturday and walked away with a 7-0 shut out over the Terriers.

Junior Bryan Heft (Gahanna, Ohio/Lincoln) and freshman Eric Cusick (Lima, Ohio/Lima Senior) have made an impression at the second doubles position with a team-best 5-1 overall mark. Meanwhile, freshman Casey Claggett (Steamboat Springs, Col./Steamboat Springs) has earned a 4-2 overall mark at the third singles position.

In this week's action, the Tigers host games against Ohio Northern on Wednesday and the College of Wooster on Saturday.
