A host of upperclassmen will lead the Tigers this year, among them are several top distance runners and sprinters. Senior Ayinde Rudolph Cincinnati, O./Walnut Hills) who finished second in the 110 hurdles in the NCAC and was a high hurdle finalist at the All-Ohio Championships as a junior will serve as a team captain and is expected to continue to excel in his final season at Wittenberg. Junior Alvin Asiamah (San Ramon, Cal./Accra, Ghana) is expected to be a major threat in the conference in the 100 meter and 200 meter dash after placing second in the 100 meter dask in 1998 in the NCAC. The Tigers will also look towards newcomer Jamal Pernell (Cleveland Hts., O./Cleveland Hts.) to continued to build a winning program as a member of two record setting relay teams.
Wittenberg has produced several key distance runners in seniors Isaac Barnes (Williamsport, O./Williamsport) and Nate Kaufman (Sadusky, O./Elgin) and both are expected to continue their All-NCAC performances from the past several seasons.
The Tigers also expect strong leadership in the area of throws from sophomore Kevin Callison (Springfield, O./Kenton Ridge) who finished first in the NCAC in the shot put in the 1999 NCAC indoor championship.
The Tigers are look to regain their conference titles from 1997, continue to set new school records, and build a successful program in 1999.
