Women's Rugby Club Team
SPRINGFIELD, Ohio — Wittenberg University has lots of new hardware in its trophy cases this fall, thanks to NCAA Division III Tournament qualifying teams in women's soccer, volleyball and football. If things go well on Saturday, another Wittenberg team will add another championship.

Wittenberg's women's rugby club team will compete for its fourth straight Division III Midwest Regional Championship Saturday, Nov. 18, in Cincinnati, Ohio. The Tigers will face off against Ohio Northern for the title.

ONU is currently ranked No. 1 in the North Division, while Wittenberg is ranked No. 1 in the South Division.

"We haven't played ONU in three years," said Cari Gronowski, class of 2007 from Avon, Ohio, a tri-captain in 2006. "It's exciting to play someone different."

The women's rugby club team, coached by Steve "Fire" Wade, boasts a perfect record of 6-0 this season, with victories over Eastern Kentucky University, The Ohio State University and Xavier University, among others.

When asked about the team chemistry, Gronowski said, "There is a bond on and off the field. It's great to win and then celebrate it with your team afterward."
