Springfield, Ohio — Wittenberg football standout Manny Rodriguez, class of 2011 from Lawrenceville, Ga., wrapped up an impressive 2008 season by earning third-team All-North Region honors from d3football.com.

Rodriguez forced a team-leading four fumbles and also had an interception, spearheading an opportunistic Tiger defensive unit that forced 22 turnovers in 2008. In addition, Rodriguez made 65 tackles, including five for a loss, had a sack and three pass break-ups, and he returned a team-leading 11 kick-offs for a 17.5 yards per return average.

Rodriguez's honor comes in addition to a first-team All-NCAC award. The conference and regional awards are both firsts in Rodriguez's career.

Also a hard-throwing right-handed pitcher who made seven appearances in 2008 for the Tiger baseball team, Rodriguez has started all 20 football games in his collegiate career. He has finished in the top four on the team in tackles in each of his first two collegiate campaigns.
