McKinley's OhioCollegeFootball.com selection adds to his first-team All-NCAC nod and selection as the NCAC Defensive Player of the Week on Nov. 2, in addition to NCAC Defensive Player of the Year honors from OhioCollegeFootball.com (which does not take into account conference schools located outside the state). His 111 tackles, including 37 solo stops, led the team and placed him second in the NCAC. He also added a team-best 10 tackles for a loss and 3.5 sacks. The avalanche of 2008 awards came after McKinley was named NCAC Newcomer of the Year and second-team All-NCAC in 2007.
In the linebacking core, Lohrman worked well in tandem with McKinley, earning a first-team All-NCAC selection of his own. In his breakout season, Lohrman piled up 92 tackles, an interception and two fumble recoveries.
Up front, Phillips spearheaded a staunch Tiger run defense with his 24 tackles, 5.5 of which were for a loss. The only current Tiger with three All-NCAC honors on his collegiate resume, Phillips earned first-team all-conference squad for the second year in a row in 2008. Due to an injury that forced him to miss a majority of the 2005 season, Phillips has decided to take his medical red-shirt and play again in 2009.
One of the constants for Head Coach Joe Fincham's offensive line, Hollin paved the way for 11 different ball carriers for the injury-riddled Tigers in 2008. In addition, the offensive line allowed just11 sacks while protecting a trio of Wittenberg quarterbacks. His efforts earned him a second-team All-NCAC spot for the second time in as many years.
OhioCollegeFootball.com was created in 2008 with the purpose of providing comprehensive coverage of the Buckeye State's collegiate gridiron programs. With news from around the state, featured articles, rankings and public message forums, OhioCollegeFootball.com provides a wide array of outlets to stay up-to-date on the latest in local football.
