Erin Slattery

Springfield, Ohio — Wittenberg University volleyball standout Erin Slattery, class of 2010 from Chagrin Falls, Ohio, has been recognized for the combination of her athletic and academic accomplishments with third-team CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America College Division All-District IV honors.

This is the first Academic All-District IV award for Slattery. The selections are a result of online voting conducted recently by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Student-athletes who make the first-team in district voting will now be considered for Academic All-America awards.

Slattery carries a 3.59 grade point average while majoring in communication. A team captain in 2009, Slattery leads the Tigers and ranks among the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) leaders in assists with 482 on the season, in addition to a team-leading 26 aces and 162 digs, which ranks fourth on the team. Slattery's career total of 2,751 assists ranks fifth in school history.

The current president of Wittenberg's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and secretary of Student Senate, Slattery has collected a variety of honors from the conference in her career, including 2006 NCAC Newcomer of the Year, 2008 NCAC Tournament MVP and first-team All-NCAC in 2007 and 2008. In her career, the Tigers have not lost an NCAC regular season match.

In addition, Slattery is a member of Wittenberg's chapter of Chi Alpha Sigma, the student-athlete honorary, and Alpha Lambda Delta. She has served an internship in Wittenberg's Office of University Communications, and she was selected to attend the 2008 NCAA Student-Athlete Leadership Development Conference in Orlando, Fla.

The Tigers, ranked No. 11 in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association NCAA Division III poll, recently won their 12th NCAC title in the last 13 years with a perfect 16-0 record. Sporting a 22-7 overall record and a No. 6 ranking in the Great Lakes Region, Wittenberg plays host to the NCAC Tournament Friday and Saturday, Nov. 6-7 in hopes of earning the conference's automatic berth into the NCAA Division III Tournament.
