Tickets For Wittenberg Men's Basketball Exhibition Game at University of Dayton Go On Sale
October 24, 2002
SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - The Wittenberg University men's basketball team, the winningest program in NCAA Division III history, opens the 2002-03 season with an exhibition game at the University of Dayton. The Tigers, a perennial NCAA Division III national title contender who are coming off a 26-4 season in 2001-02, will serve as UD's first opponent in renovated University of Dayton Arena at 8 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 9.
While the game is an exhibition and the results will not count toward either team's overall record, a great deal of interest is being generated in the renewal of a longtime neighborhood rivalry. A near-sellout is expected. Wittenberg's fans have access to 1,900 tickets, which will be sold on six different occasions at the concession stand in the HPER Center lobby.
Tickets purchased at one of Wittenberg's pre-sale sessions will cost $5, as opposed to $7 on game day at UD. A portion of the proceeds from each ticket sold at Wittenberg will benefit the university's athletic department. Tickets will be sold 5-7 p.m. on Friday Oct. 25, Monday Oct. 28, Wednesday Oct. 30, Friday Nov. 1, and Monday Nov. 4. They will also be available 11 a.m.-4 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 2 during the football game against Allegheny College at Edwards-Maurer Field.
Parking for the game will be free of charge in Lot D. The Wittenberg-Dayton men's game will immediately follow a women's contest between UD and Ohio Northern at 5 p.m. One ticket is good for both games, with open seating for the women's game and assigned seats for the men's game. For additional ticket information or to have any special questions addressed, contact Marilyn Kissell in Wittenberg's department of athletics at (937) 327-6489 or by e-mail at mkissell@wittenberg.edu.
