SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – The Wittenberg University Tigers and their gridiron fans are becoming accustomed to traveling. It has worked for them through the first two rounds of the 2001 NCAA Division III Playoffs as the Tigers have defeated Hardin-Simmons University and Thomas More College on the road. After two trips to locations no previous Wittenberg team has visited, this week’s game is in familiar territory — Mount Union College in Alliance, Ohio.

Wittenberg, ranked No. 7 in the country by the American Football Coaches Association with a 11-1 overall record and champions of the North Coast Athletic Conference with a 7-0 record, will travel to Mount Union for a noon kickoff on Saturday, Dec. 1. Tickets for the game will be on sale at Wittenberg from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, Nov. 27-29 in the HPER Center lobby.

Ticket prices are $5 for college age students and younger, while tickets for adults cost $8. No passes will be honored. Tickets will also be available at the gate at Mount Union, beginning at 10 a.m. on gameday, but for best seats Wittenberg fans are encouraged to buy their tickets pre-sale or to call Mount Union’s ticket office at (330) 821-6759 and specify purchases for the visitors section of the stadium.

All seats are reserved. The stadium seats 5,098, and in the event of a sellout, tickets are still sold during the first half of the game for standing room only. Wittenberg students can get seats on a bus reserved by Student Activities. The bus will depart Wittenberg’s campus at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1 and return immediately after the game.

In addition, Mount Union is offering a brunch starting at 10 a.m. at the university’s dining hall in the Hoover-Price Campus Center, adjacent to the football stadium. It is open to everyone at a cost of $4.50 for adults and $2.75 for children. A room in the center will be reserved for Wittenberg alumni, parents, students and friends to gather.
