Wittenberg Football To Appear On
Time Warner Cable This Weekend Posted October 10, 2002 Posted by: Ryan Maurer SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - Time Warner Cable will continue its coverage of Wittenberg University athletic events with a football game against Wabash on Oct. 12 at Edwards-Maurer Field. A taping of an important late-season field hockey game for the nationally ranked Tigers against North Coast Athletic Conference rival Ohio Wesleyan on Oct. 29 will follow that cablecast. The football game will be cablecast at 10 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12, and 10 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 16. The field hockey game will appear at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 30 and 8 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2. The programs can be found on Time Warner Cable systems on channel 25 or 69 in Dayton, channel 30 in the Dayton suburbs and channel 59 in communities further north. Subscribers are encouraged to check their local listings. The gridiron Tigers are off to their usual flying start to the 2002 campaign with wins in their first four games, scoring more than 31 points in every game and giving up just 30 points total to the opposition. The game against Wabash is a particularly special one as it is part of the university’s annual Homecoming festivities and features several alumni presentations and halftime awards, including the introduction of the Wittenberg University Athletics Hall of Honor Class of 2002. The Tiger field hockey team is currently ranked 12th in the nation in NCAA Division III with a record of 11-0. Just as important as that unblemished overall record is a mark of 7-0 in the NCAC, which puts Wittenberg atop the standings heading into the second half of the annual regular season round robin. The game against Ohio Wesleyan is Senior Recognition Night for the Tigers, at which time five outstanding athletes will be recognized for their contributions to the program. One other programming note: the Wittenberg field hockey program is featured in the October episode of a Time Warner Cable program called Extreme Close-Up. The half-hour show appears at 7:30 p.m. each Wednesday and 6:30 p.m. each Friday throughout the month of October. Time Warner Cable owns and manages the world's most advanced, best-clustered cable television operations, with 90 percent of its 12.6 million customers in systems of 100,000 subscribers or more. It is a division of AOL Time Warner Inc. Time Warner Cable's Western Ohio Division serves more than 400,000 customers in 28 counties. 043-02 |
