SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - Wittenberg University sophomore setter Sarah Yuskewich of Columbus, Ohio has been named the American Volleyball Coaches Association/Sports Imports Division III National Player of the Week, it was announced late Wednesday, Nov. 6. The award came after the Tigers registered wins over three of top six teams in the nation last weekend - No. 1 Washington University, No. 3 Juniata and No. 6 Mount St. Joseph - during the Tiger National Quad.

Yuskewich tallied 50 assists, 12 digs, three aces and two blocks while helping her squad to a .295 team hitting percentage in a 3-0 victory over previously unbeaten Washington University. The Tigers hit .358 behind Yuskewich’s 52 assists in a sweep of No. 6 Mount St. Joseph, and she added 10 digs, four blocks and four service aces in the match. She dished out 72 assists, 13 digs, six blocks and three aces en route to a 3-2 win over No. 3 Juniata. Yuskewich averaged 15.82 assists and 3.18 digs over the course of 11 games during the weekend.

The Tigers are now 30-7 overall and play host to the North Coast Athletic Conference tournament semifinals and finals this weekend at the HPER Center. Wittenberg earned home court as the No. 1 seed by finishing the NCAC regular season schedule with an 8-0 record. It was Wittenberg’s sixth consecutive regular season conference championship and the fifth straight year that the Tigers had won the title without a loss.
