CINCINNATI - The Wittenberg Tigers finally ran out of steam in the regional championship match of the NCAA Division III volleyball tournament, dropping a 3-0 decision to the top-seeded and host Mt. St. Joseph Mountie Lions.

The loss came after an exciting five-game victory over Ohio Northern on Saturday that advanced the Tigers, the third seed in the region, to the regional title match. But Mt. St. Joseph, ranked No. 11 in the country by the American Volleyball Coaches Association, proved too much in winning the three games 15-13, 15-11, 15-5 to move on to the NCAA Quarterfinals next weekend.

Sophomore Tiffany Keller (Massillon, Ohio/Tuslaw) showed the way offensively for the Tigers with 13 kills in 28 attempts. Sophomore Brittany Baume (South Charleston, Ohio/Southeastern) added 11 kills, sophomore Shelli Habegger (Curtice, Ohio/Oregon Clay) finished with 32 assists, and senior Melodi Mann (Anna, Ohio/Jackson Center) completed her career with an 18-dig performance.

The Tigers wind up the season with a 32-9 overall record. Four of their nine losses this season came to Mt. St. Joseph.
