Tiger Bats Come Alive To Key Pair Of Wins
Spring Break Trip Day 2
March 6, 2006

KISSIMMEE, Fla. - The Wittenberg Tigers managed just five hits in two games on the first day in Florida, but on Day 2 the Tigers heated up offensively to record a 10-2 win over Mary Washington and a 2-1 win over Averett.

The wins improved the Tigers to 3-1 on the young season.

In the opener, Wittenberg exploded for 13 hits while scoring two runs each in the first, second and seventh innings and another four in the fourth. Alisha Degenhart and Rachael Hatcher combined for the pitching victory, with Degenhart picking up the win in her first collegiate start.

Offensively, the Tigers were led by three hits each from Stephanie Zorn and Erin Collinsworth. Zorn drove in three runs and Collinsworth knocked home a pair.

In the nightcap, the Tigers picked up a fine pitching performance from Taryn Hensel as she scattered three hits and six walks. It was her first victory of the 2006 season.

After Averett scored its run in the top of the sixth inning, the Tigers rallied for two runs in the bottom half. Zorn scored the game-tying run on a passed ball, and then Amy Myser reached on a fielder's choice, scoring Collinsworth.
