Wittenberg Splits A Pair
On Day 3 Of Spring Break Trip
March 7, 2006

KISSIMMEE, Fla. - The Wittenberg Tigers continued their hot and cold Spring Break Trip, defeating Bluffton, 6-0, before losing to St. Francis, 9-1.

The Tigers are now 4-2 on the young season as they pass the halfway point of the spring trip.

In the opener, freshman Rachael Hatcher turned in another outstanding pitching performance, going the distance while allowing just three hits and one walk. Offensively, the Tigers got all they would need with a six-run outburst in the fifth inning. An error got things started, and the Tigers then strung together five hits, including the big blow, a two-run single by Stephanie Zorn that pushed the final two runs across.

In the day's second game, the Tigers committed six errors to betray the pitching tandem of junior Grace Wigton and sophomore Taryn Hensel. Offensively, Wittenberg scraped up just one run by junior Lucy Huelsman in the top of the first and a total of three hits.
