Wittenberg Split Two Games On Day 2 Of Spring Break Trip

Sarah Fetters
KISSIMMEE, Fla. - The Wittenberg Tigers moved to 3-1 on the young 2007 season with a split on Day 2 of their Spring Break trip to Florida. The Tigers rallied for an 8-3 win over College Misericordia in the opener before falling 9-0 in a run-rule shortened nightcap against Mount Union on Day 2 of the Rebel Spring Games.

After falling behind 3-0, the Tigers pulled off their third straight come-from-behind win, starting with a run in the fourth inning as junior Amy Myser (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington) doubled sophomore Erin Meredith (Noblesville, Ind./Noblesville) to third base before a wild pitch brought her home.

With sophomore Rachael Hatcher (West Carrollton, Ohio/West Carrollton) holding Misericordia in check, the Tigers really turned things around in the fifth inning. Hatcher started it off by beating out a hit to third base, and pinch-runner Liz Roby () scored on a triple by junior Sarah Fetters (Maumee, Ohio/Maumee). Senior Lucy Huelsman (Wellington, Ohio/Wellington) added an RBI single to tie the game and senior Stephanie Zorn (Grapevine, Texas/Colleyville) put Wittenberg ahead with an RBI hit.

In the nightcap, Mount Union took advantage of four Wittenberg errors to score six unearned runs and cruise to a five-inning victory. Fetters had a double, one of Wittenberg's three hits in the game, but the Tigers were unable to rally against one of the top pitchers in the region.
