Tiger Slide Continues With Pair of Tough Losses

Colin Barlow
Jade Chivington
KISSIMMEE, Fla.- A pair of pitchers duels went against the Tigers as the slow start to 2009 continued with losses to Benedictine and Trine by 2-0 and 5-1 scores, respectively.

In game one, Jade Chivington (Bellefontaine, Ohio/Bellefontaine) measured the pitching up to great effect, collecting a hit in each of her three plate appearances. However, the rest of the team failed to drive her home; the rest of the lineup only had one knock the entire game.

In game two, even Chivington went quiet as the Tigers narrowly avoided being no-hit, as Jessi Allen (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) punched the only Tiger hit of the game. The final scoreline was misleading, however, as the Tigers went down to the wire with Melisa Shock (Bellbrook, Ohio/Bellbrook) in the circle before Trine broke the game open in the late innings.

Wittenberg now sits at 0-6 as they prepare to take on Geneva at 1 p.m. and Waynesburg at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, March 10.
