HALL NAMED NCAC COACH OF THE YEAR; TWO TIGERS EARN SPECIAL NCAC HONORS

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio--- Wittenberg University senior pitcher Carey Oakes (Pleasant Hill, Ohio/Newton) earned NCAC Pitcher of the Year honors for her outstanding performance this season. Oakes, a two-time, first team honoree, set several school records as well as one conference record this season. Oakes set school pitching records in wins with a 17-4 record and strikeouts with 123 while setting a conference record in earned run average with a 1.10 ERA.

Freshman outfielder Alea Bruggeman (Kettering, Ohio/Fairmont) was selected the NCAC Newcomer of the Year for her contributions to the Tigers in her first collegiate season. Bruggeman led the conference in batting with a .492 average while setting school records in hits (63) and runs (52).

Other Tigers selected to the NCAC first team were junior first base Carisa Clagg (Springfield, Ohio/Northwestern) and sophomore shortstop Christy Schneider (Fairfield, Ohio/Fairfield). Clagg finished the season with a .389 batting average and was the team leader in putouts with 229. Schneider was second on the team in batting with a .459 average.

Head coach Becky Hall was named the NCAC Coach of the Year for the first time in her career. Hall guided her team to the schoolıs first-ever conference title and a 30-12 overall mark, a school record. Hall is 53-31 in her two seasons at Wittenberg.
