Allegheny's Rachel Ryan and Denison's Bri Scrofano are both repeat first-team selections. HIRAM, Ohio — As the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) softball tournament looms nearer and nearer, the Wittenberg Tigers must continue to fight for a spot. Wittenberg may not have made the strongest case Sunday against Hiram, but they did pick up a 'W' in one column at the expense of an 'L' in another. CLEVELAND, Ohio — Wittenberg junior Rachael Hatcher (West Carrollton, OH/West Carrollton) threw a complete-game, 5-3 victory over Transylvania with seven strikeouts, and also smashed a two-run homerun. She pitched another complete-game victory, 4-1 over Case. Hatcher posted another seven strikeouts in that contest. For the week, she pitched 14.0 innings, allowed 13 hits, 2 runs (both earned), walked three and struck out 14. Wittenberg went 8-0 last week to improve to 14-6 overall. Read More ... |

CLEVELAND, Ohio — 2007 NCAC Tournament champion Allegheny emerged as the preseason favorite in balloting by North Coast Athletic Conference softball coaches in their annual preseason poll. The Gators, who last spring finished the regular season with an 9-5 league record, a 19-19 overall mark and their third NCAC tournament crown, earned four of eight first-place votes from league coaches for 59 points.
