Wittenberg Falls To Washington University

ST. LOUIS, MO. - The Wittenberg Tigers suffered their first defeat of the season tonight to Washington University. Despite the loss, the Tigers went on to capture the Washington University Teri Clemens Invitational with a record of 2-1.

The Tigers fell to the host Bears in three straight games by scores of 30-23, 30-27, 32-30. Junior Emily Dixon had three blocks for the Tigers to lead the team defensively, while freshman Emily Bell had the best match of her young collegiate career with 19 kills and a phenomenal .444 attack percentage. Working hard for the Tiger defense was senior Emilie Schmid, who contributed 38 digs. In addition, senior Sarah Yuskewich distributed 56 assists to move into 16th place in NCAA Division III history for career assists.

Two Tigers were selected to the all-tournament team. Schmid and Yuskewich were chosen for their excellent play on the court throughout the tournament.

The Tigers are back in action Wednesday at 7 p.m. against Kenyon College, the Tigers' first North Coast Athletic Conference game of the year.
