The No. 1-ranked Tigers improved to 27-0 overall and 11-0 in the NCAC with the 30-23, 30-21, 30-21 win. The match served as a precursor to a big Saturday at second-place Hiram in which Wittenberg will play the host Terriers at 1 p.m. before squaring off with Heidelberg at 3 p.m.
The win over Allegheny featured some of the usual suspects as senior outside hitter Emily Bell (Fort Wayne, Ind./Concordia Lutheran) recorded a double-double with 19 digs and 12 kills and junior outside hitter Jackie Williams (Rocky River, Ohio/Magnificat) added 10 kills on a .500 attack percentage.
Senior setter Sarah Matesich (Granville, Ohio/Newark Catholic) did her usual fine work, dishing out a match-high 27 assists.
Defensively, the Tigers got a combined 11 blocks from the middle hitting duo of senior Caitlin Augustus (Springfield, Ohio/Shawnee) and junior Jessica Kimble (Dennison, Ohio/Claymont).
