Seniors Kim Woodring (Mansfield, O./Madison) and Beth Nowicki (Bowling Green, O./Bowling Green) each received All-America recognition for the second time in their careers. They shared the North Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Year honors announced two weeks ago.
Woodring, an outside hitter, was named to the first team for the second time in three years. Nowicki, selected to the second team as a setter, was on the first team two years ago while still at Thomas More College.
Junior outside hitter Dawn Reinhardt (Canal Fulton, O./Northwest) was named first team all-region for the second straight year.
"There is no question this is a high-water mark for our program," Coach Connie Surowicz said. "Kim and Beth richly deserved the recognition and they have left their mark as two of the greatest athletes in Wittenberg history."
Woodring set an NCAA Division III career record for kills with 2,142 in just three seasons after transferring from South Carolina State. In 1996 she set a Division III single season kills record with 821 and the single match mark with 55. Woodring was named national player of the week three times during her career, including twice this season.
Nowicki set a Division III career record for assists with 6,805 and led the nation this year with an average of 13.3 per game. Reinhardt, who has 1,811 career kills, should break Woodring's NCAA record next year during her senior season.
The Tigers finished with a 34-4 record and were ranked fourth in the nation at the end of the regular season. In addition Wittenberg won the NCAC title for the fourth time in six years.
