Paco Labrador was selected as Wittenberg University's head women's volleyball coach in April 2003. He replaced Connie Surowicz, the most successful coach in Tiger volleyball history to date, who accepted the same position at Ashland University. In his first season, Labrador led the Tigers to their seventh straight North Coast Athletic Conference regular season and tournament championships and into the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional championship match.
Labrador graduated from Hiram College, a member of the NCAC along with Wittenberg, in 1995 with degrees in psychology and exercise and sport science, and he also holds a master of science from Miami University in sport studies, which he earned in 1997. He comes to Wittenberg after four years as an assistant coach at Miami, where he was active in all phases of the program, including scouting and game preparation, recruiting, skill development and summer camps.
Labrador's coaching experience is extensive, including three years as a student assistant coach at Hiram. He worked with USA Junior Olympic Volleyball from 1995-2000 while serving as an assistant coach at Miami for two years, the University of Maryland for a year and Miami again for four years.
Labrador, who resides in Springfield, coached the Ohio Valley Region Girls High Performance Camp Team in 2003. This program was designed as a young talent identification method and feeder system for the USA Women's National Team. The team was comprised of the top U-16 players from a region that includes Ohio and part of Pennsylvania. In July 2003, the team competed in the VolleyClassic in St. George, Utah and finished third behind the Aloha (Hawaii) Region and the Northern California Region.

Assistant Coach Shannon Keller

Shannon Keller is Wittenberg's assistant volleyball and women's basketball coach. She came to Wittenberg from Pennsylvania State University at Erie Behrend College, also an NCAA Division III institution, where she was an assistant women's basketball coach for three years and received a master's of business administration in May 2003. Also the assistant intramurals director at Penn State Behrend, Keller helped the women's basketball program earn the 2003 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference regular season championship.
In Keller's first year at Wittenberg, she was a part of conference championships in both volleyball and women's basketball. The two programs combined for a staggering 53-13 overall record. Both teams advanced to the NCAA Division III Round of 16.
A 2000 graduate of Allegheny College and four-year starter for Gator women's basketball team, Keller is a native of Massillon, Ohio. Her sister, Tiffany, graduated from Wittenberg in 2003 after earning eight letters in volleyball and women's basketball.
