Paco Labrador was selected as Wittenberg University's head women's volleyball coach in April 2003. He picked up right where Connie Surowicz, the winningest coach in program history, left off before moving on to Ashland University.

Labrador inherited a veteran team in 2003 and guided them to North Coast Athletic Conference regular season and tournament championships for the seventh straight year. He coached four players who earned first-team All-Great Lakes Region and All-America status, led by Sarah Yuskewich, the NCAC Player of the Year and a first-team All-America for a second straight year. The Tigers finished 28-7 overall and finished second in the region.

The 2003 season was eclipsed the following year when Labrador led the Wittenberg Tigers to their first-ever national No. 1 ranking midway through the 2004 season. Wittenberg accumulated a sparkling 35-3 record, once again going undefeated in conference play. The Tigers reached the NCAA Division III quarterfinals before falling in a road match at the University of La Verne.

Labrador graduated from Hiram College, a member of the NCAC along with Wittenberg, in 1995 with degrees in psychology and exercise and sport science, and he also holds a master of science from Miami University in sport studies, which he earned in 1997. He came to Wittenberg after four years as an assistant coach at Miami (Ohio) University, where he was active in all phases of the program, including scouting and game preparation, recruiting, skill development and summer camps.

Labrador's coaching experience is extensive, including three years as a student assistant coach at Hiram. He worked with USA Junior Olympic Volleyball from 1995-2000 while serving as an assistant coach at Miami for two years, the University of Maryland for a year and Miami again for four years.

In addition to his responsibilities at Wittenberg, Labrador, who resides in Springfield, coached the Ohio Valley Region Girls High Performance Camp Team in 2003. This program was designed as a talent identification method and feeder system for the USA Women's National Team. The team was comprised of the top U-16 players from a region that includes Ohio and part of Pennsylvania. In July 2003, the team competed in the VolleyClassic in St. George, Utah and finished third behind the Aloha (Hawaii) Region and the Northern California Region.

Assistant Coach Shannon Keller
Office: (937) 327-6471
E-Mail

Shannon Keller was named assistant volleyball and women's basketball coach in 2003.

In her first year at Wittenberg, Keller was a part of two North Coast Athletic Conference championship teams that posted a phenomenal 53-12 combined record. The Tiger volleyball program went 28-7 overall and advanced to the NCAA Division III Round of 16. The Tiger women's basketball program went 25-6 overall and advanced to the NCAA Division III Round of 16 for the first time in school history.

She came to Wittenberg from Pennsylvania State University at Erie Behrend College, also an NCAA Division III institution, where she was an assistant women's basketball coach for three years and received a master's of business administration in May 2003. Also the assistant intramurals director at Penn State-Behrend, Keller helped the women's basketball program earn the 2003 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference regular season championship.

A 2000 graduate of Allegheny College and four-year starter for Gator women's basketball team, Keller is a native of Massillon, Ohio. Her sister, Tiffany, graduated from Wittenberg in 2002 after earning eight letters in volleyball and women's basketball and earning All-America honors in the former.
