Resting many of their regulars in favor against the winless Ladies, fifth-ranked Wittenberg improved to 5-0 overall after posting set scores of 25-11, 25-9, 25-14.
Freshman outside hitter Kimmie Dyer (Copley, Ohio/Copley) led the way offensively with seven kills and a team season-high of six aces. Freshman middle hitter Ellen Kortesoja (Ann Arbor, Mich./Huron) added five kills, while junior outside hitter Katherine Yuskewich (Columbus, Ohio/Watterson), freshman middle hitter Katie Sumner (Dublin, Ohio/Watterson) and freshman middle hitter Elyse Adams (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson) contributed four kills each.
Defensively, things were much the same. Junior defensive specialist Laura Schumaker (Springfield, Ohio/Shawnee) and sophomore libero Becca Zajac (Livonia, Mich./Ladywood) each finished with eight digs to lead the way.
The intensity level figures to be amped up Friday and Saturday as the Tigers return to action in the 2008 Border Battle at Wittenberg. Wittenberg plays Adrian, NAIA power Walsh and nationally ranked Calvin and Hope over the next two days.
