Unbeaten against the Terriers all-time, Wittenberg never trailed in the contest, but they also never pulled away against a disciplined, much-improved opponent. The Tigers led by four to eight points for the majority of the first half, before a Kellsea Vasileff (Springfield, Ohio/Shawnee) steal led to an Allie Leopard (Urbana, Ohio/Urbana) lay-up and the largest lead of the game at the intermission. The Tigers led 31-20 at the break, holding the Terriers to 30 percent shooting for the contest and only 28 percent in the first twenty minutes.
Also reaching double figures offensively for Wittenberg were junior post Stephanie Boardman (Cincinnati, Ohio/McAuley) with 17 and junior wing Carrie Dyer (Copley, Ohio/Copley) with 11 off the bench in the winning effort.
Wittenberg next takes on Allegheny on Saturday, Jan. 3 in Meadville, Pa. at 3 p.m.
