Box Score
HIRAM, Ohio - The Wittenberg University Tigers may have had their ups and downs in the 2002-03 non-conference schedule, one loaded with three ranked opponents and seven teams with winning records among the nine opponents, but this is still the defending North Coast Athletic Conference regular season champion. And the Tigers played like it Friday night at Hiram College, blasting the Terriers 91-42 to open NCAC action and defense of their eighth conference crown since joining the NCAC in 1989.

The Tigers dressed 15 players for the game, and all of them saw at least 10 minutes of action in the game. Just one of the starters, senior guard Stephanie Campbell (South Charleston, Ohio/Southeastern), reached double-figures in scoring with 11 points. Leading the offensive outburst were a pair of freshman reserves, guard Carrie Jones (Greenville, Ohio/Greenville) with 12 points and forward Joyce Dindo (Akron, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit) with 10 tallies, both career highs.

Wittenberg shot 55 percent from the field in both halves and wound up 37-of-67 for the game, their high-water mark for the season. The Tigers also outrebounded Hiram 49-17, forced six more Terrier turnovers than they committed and limited Hiram, which fell to 1-8 overall this year and hasn't won a conference game since 2000-01, to 36 percent shooting from the field.

The Tigers return to action at Allegheny on Saturday afternoon in a key early season NCAC match-up. Wittenberg improved to 6-4 overall and 1-0 in the NCAC with the victory.
