Meet the 2000 Wittenberg Women's Lacrosse Freshmen

Freshmen

Mandy Clapp - Freshman - Kent, OH - Kent Roosevelt HS--A 3 sport letter winner in high school, will learn lacrosse at Wittenberg. Has good understanding of the defensive footwork and marking. Will continue to develop stick skills and a sense of the game this season. Was honored on the Dean's List for Fall 1999 and is a member of Delta Gamma.

Merritt Fog - Freshman - New Canaan, CT - New Canaan HS--Has developed good stick skills and understanding of game strategies. Will play attack and some midfield this season. A political science major who serves on the Student Senate Finance Committee. High school activities included field hockey, tennis and crew. Received the Senior Athlete Award at New Canaan.

Heather House - Freshman – Dayton, OH - Oakwood HS --A standout field hockey player at Oakwood who played lacrosse on their club team. Brings speed and versatility to the midfield. Stick skills will continue to develop in the pre-season and is expected to play in the midfield attack. Major is psychology and pre-medicine, also a member of the Wittenberg Honors program. Member of the Wittenberg Field Hockey Team this past fall. High School honors include All-State in Field Hockey and All Star in Lacrosse. Was a Scholar Athlete at Oakwood High School all 4 years.

Lindsay Law - Freshman – Columbus, OH - Dublin Scioto --A field hockey and lacrosse standout at Scioto - sidelined during senior year with ACL reconstruction. Has worked on developing stick skills during the off season. Is an aggressive defender who reads the play well and maintains good defensive positioning. Played for the Tiger Field Hockey Squad this past fall. High school honors include 1st team all league honors in field hockey and the Irish Spirit Award for lacrosse.

Annie Richard - Freshman - Wooster, OH - Wooster HS--Played defense in high school. Has spent pre-season developing shooting skills and working with the attack. Will make a contribution in the midfield game. Has good footwork and defensive skills. Wittenberg activities include Delta Gamma. High school honors include 4 letters in lacrosse and 2 in swimming. Honored as a Scholar Athlete for 3 years at Wooster High School.

Cara Romanowski - Freshman – Collegeville, PA - Perkioman Valley HS--A field hockey, lacrosse, and swimming standout at Perkioman Valley - will add speed and versatility to midfield defense. Has excellent stick skills and good footwork. Anticipates well and gets to every ball. Played Field Hockey at Wittenberg this past fall. Biology and Biochemistry major ... member of Delta Gamma. High School honors include 1st team all area in field hockey and lacrosse and 3rd place in the state for swimming. President of Student Forum for 2 years.

Christie Rose -- Freshman - Wooster, OH - Wooster HS--A track standout at Wooster HS - learned lacrosse at Wittenberg. Has developed into a steady defender who hustles after every ground ball. Expects to play in the defensive midfield. Wittenberg Activities include Delta Gamma. High School honors include Most Outstanding runner both Junior and Senior year in Cross country and Track, along with National Honor Society and the Scholar Athlete award.

Mollie Stone - Freshman – Damascus, MD - Damascus HS --Played attack in high school. Is versatile in the attack as a set-up player or scoring threat. Uses both hands and has scored in pre-season competition. Is a consistent transition player - expected to play midfield this season. An education major, member of Alpha Delta PI, and a DJ for the campus radio station. High School honors include 3 letters in lacrosse and the Harry V. Stipe Scholar Athlete award.
