Wittenberg Reserves Fall To Cincinnati State
CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Wittenberg women's soccer reserve team lost a hard-fought match on a late goal in the 88th minute. Despite Lindsay Zigler's two goals, the reserves dropped an away game to Cincinnati State's full team, 3-2.
Wittenberg was up 2-1 with 10 minutes remaining but could not hold off State as they fought back to steal the win. "Give credit to Cincinnati State and to Catherine Miller (younger sister of Jen Miller '04 captain and goalkeeper for the past four years for the Tigers) as she made a great play on the flank and State scored a very nice goal," said Tigers Head Coach Norm Riker. "We played hard and were disappointed to not get a positive result.
"The game can change quickly, and we learned a hard lesson today, but one that will make us better in the future. All in all, it was a great experience for our players, and it was good to see that so many of our fans and families had made the trip."
The reserves, 3-1 on the season, play their final game of 2004 at home against Cedarville at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 21.
