SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - Unlike the weather, the rematch of the Sept. 8 clash between the Yellow Jackets and Tigers was well played and fun to watch as the two teams finished in a 1-1 tie.

The tempo was high paced and it stayed that way throughout the 90 minutes. Although the lion's share of the play and scoring chances went to the Tigers, it was the Yellow Jackets who struck first. This time Coach Riker's theory on the elements "take it while you have it" backfired as a seemingly harmless ball that looked to be going out of bounds for a Wittenberg goal kick got caught up in the wind. The wet conditions made the ball difficult to handle for the Wittenberg goalkeeper and the rebound landed right on the foot of a Cedarville forward, who tapped it home for the 1 -0 halftime lead.

Now Wittenberg had to chase the game. The Tigers also had to do so while facing the wind and blowing rain, and against a very inspired opponent that tasted victory for the first time in four matches dating back to 2004. Neither team would leave disappointed, nor would the fans who braved the weather as the action took right off from where it was left from the first half and carried all the through the 90 minutes. Back and forth went the play and the scoring chances, and with only two minutes left on the clock and the Tigers team goal of having an undefeated reserve season, Justine Girard found the back of the goal. It was a nifty shot from the corner of the 18 that found the upper side netting of goal at just the right time!

The goal made for an exciting end to a well played game, and as so rarely happens in sports, left both sides and their fans satisfied with the result.
