Wittenberg Defeats Rose-Hulman, 3-0
Sept. 10, 2005
SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - The Wittenberg women's soccer team is rolling. Wittenberg made it a perfect 3-0 to start the 2005 season with a 3-0 victory over Rose-Hulman in the Tigers' home opener in newly refurbished Edwards-Maurer Field.
The Tigers were absolutely dominant in this one, finishing the game with an astounding 31-1 advantage in shots on goal. Sophomore Lisa Rusch continued her torrid scoring pace, taking a pass from sister Lindsey and scoring the lone goal of the first half. It was the second straight game that the twins had hooked up for a goal.
In the second half, junior Liz Volz scored a pair of insurance goals, one on an assist from senior Emily Hiscar and the other on a feed from sophomore Amanda Farrell. Sophomore Meghan O'Rourke made sure that was more than enough, recording her second straight shutout while dealing with almost no pressure thanks to the Tigers' outstanding defense.
