The Tigers evened their record at 2-2 overall heading into a Wednesday date at Ohio Northern. Wittenberg's home opener is Saturday, Sept. 16 against Washington & Jefferson.
In what was almost certainly a must-win game for Wittenberg, the Tigers got their customary shutout defensive performance from junior goalkeeper Meghan O'Rourke (Columbus, Ohio/Worthington Kilbourne), who posted a school-record 13 of them a year ago. O'Rourke was credited with four saves in the game as Rose-Hulman attempted seven shots.
Offensively, the Tigers saved their best for last, scoring twice in a 15-minute span of the second half. Sophomore Suzanne Medwid (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington) broke the ice with her first goal of the season, assisted by juniors Lisa Rusch (Columbus, Ohio/Worthington Kilbourne) and Amanda Farrell (Loveland, Ohio/Loveland). Then freshman Kelly Clark (Bexley, Ohio/Bexley) added an insurance goal, her first as a collegian.
