Wittenberg Records Fourth Straight Shutout, Ties 12th-Ranked Emory

Emily Murray
GREENCASTLE, Ind. - The Wittenberg Tigers have played four games in the 2008 season and they have yet to give up a goal. Until Saturday, the Tigers also had done nothing but win games before finishing in a 0-0 tie with 12th-ranked Emory in a game played at DePauw.

Eighth-ranked Wittenberg moved to 3-0-1 on the young season, matching Emory's record. The Tigers had defeated host DePauw on Friday by a 1-0 count in overtime.

Emory was credited with a 13-6 advantage in shots in the game. Junior forward Emily Murray (Petoskey, Mich./Petoskey) took three of Wittenberg's six shots.

Wittenberg's staunch defense, spearheaded by a starting unit comprised of sophomores Maggie Amorello (Sutton, Mass./Worcester Academy) and Kelly Foley (Dublin, Ohio/Scioto) and seniors Lauren Johnson (Huntsville, Ala./Hilliard Davidson) and Jamie Mack (Rochester, NY/Penfield), has now played 380 minutes of scoreless soccer. Senior goalkeeper Jordan Bamberger (Solon, Ohio/Solon) was credited with eight saves in the contest.
